3 kings and 108 balls
I'm exhausted! When on a run to a nearby park and recreation centre a few days back, i found a football club called 3 Kings United which is apparantly the biggest in NZ! I contacted this guy named Brett McMurdoch, and he asked me to go down for tryouts, so i did. Yesterday, there was a 'light' training session - the grounds are about 10mins walk from my house - and i had a wonderful time, although i was crap. There was 108 decent footballs there! For those who don't know - pitches, equipment and sponsorship are scarce unless you're playing for an S-League team or Singapore Sports School, and usually at training there are hardly enough balls to have a proper session. I was thrilled to bits to be training in such luxurious conditions.
Today, there was a match, and 3Kings played some Premier League side - a pre-season friendly, and Brett gave me 30mins on the pitch. I played centre-back which is where i don't usually play, so i got a roasting left-right and centre from my teammates and from the bench. I enjoyed it greatly, nonetheless.
Sorry to those ppl who have zero interest in football, but for those of you who know me well, football is one of my passions, a close second to music. I love football cos it's one of the things my dad passed on to me ever since i was a child, and til today we share the love for the game - if you guys recall, i never watch EPL matches with the PUNJabs because i'm always at home watching with my dad. And I've always longed to have decent training, for someone to coach me and to scold me and to help me develop as a player. ACS was never a football school, and never will be. (Go, Siling!)
On a separate note, my family's found a house! It was the one we were longing to buy all this while, and though it would be quite a stretch for us financially to buy this place, we love the place very much, and some sacrifices will have to be made... no more clothes or cds for me. sigh. But praise God anyways, for (nearly) closing a stressful chapter of our lives - househunting has been rather frantic and unfruitful. There is still much paperwork to be settled before the house is officially ours. Not to mention, packing.
This house is on the North Shore - the northern part of Auckland. It is quite aways from the city and from 3 Kings, but the coach encouraged me to stick around and play and learn and develop. Perhaps, in this season of my life, i can devote a fair amount of time to my football. Training is probably 3 times a week. Do pray for me as i witness(on the pitch, and off) to the players in the team, some of whom are jocks - the usual football hard-nut drinkalot type.
Ok peeps - that's all for now. Uni only starts on the 27th of Feb - ages yet, plenty of time to enjoy football heheh... tag me, eh!
