The Lord Gives Good Gifts
I've really been enjoying life lately. I have many many things to be thankful for - for my family, for great friends, for mentors, for the female of the species, for ministry opportunities, for lovely weather, for a lovely home, for lovely places to visit, for music, for good health, for lovely scenery, for good books, and for times of testing, when they do come, because i know God works all things for the good of those who love Him.
I've had the joy of meeting many new people, over a space of 2 weeks of getting back into uni, which has been cool. Some of whom i've met through the Christian Fellowship at AUT, which is even more thrilling. On Tues and Wed, we had 2 sessions at 10am and 4pm respectively, and a total of 16 people turned up altogether, including Andy, Nancy and I. We're studying Colossians, and i led the intro to the book, which is the 1st 14 verses. It's a great joy to see people humbled before the Word of God, seeking and understanding what He has spoken in the Bible. One of the greatest joys in my life has surely got to be ministry. I pray that God will keep me humble and teachable as i carry on doing His work wherever i go. After the Wednesday evening session, we went for dinner together, 6 of us - Kwame, Lydia, Sarah, Nancy, Fiona and I - to this Asian food court. Man, it felt like being back home (as most of them are Asian except Kwame who's Ghanian. Dunno where all the white boys went to!haha!), esp in the food court setting. I had steak and chips though, haha! The other difference was that i wasn't actually stressed. I recall the days back home after PUNJ when we will rush here and rush there to Holland V or Adam Rd and it would just be chaos and i couldn't enjoy my food or coffee even, let alone enjoy the minstry. For some reason i feel more relaxed around here, even though Auckland is quite busy and full of Asians :) Good ol Asians, can't live without them ay!
The weather this week has been quite glorious. I've seen 3 days of clear blue sky, without a cloud in sight. In the middle of winter! What a blessing :) Some things leave me gaping in wonder at the creation of God's hands, and a clear blue sky's one of them, the galaxies and the stars being another, and pure white snowy ski fields, which remind me of my status in Christ, and err... snowboarding, whee!! :)
This morning, my good buddy Julian dragged me out of bed at 0600hrs to go fishing. The first thing i said to him when he rang my mobile was, "i hate you,man..." Haha... i didn't mean it of course. I was thinking to myself that the only person i'd wake up that early for was for my wife. Future wife, i mean. If it is to be. Tee hee...Anyways, i had an amazing day with Jules and his friend Carly whom he'd met in Wales. Aaaaaaaah Wales... they admired my 'Wales Boy' keychain with passionate nostalgia. It reads,"You can take the boy out of Wales, but you can't take Wales out of the boy." It's true. It was absolutely glorious weather again today, and we took Jules' boat out fishing, and although we didn't catch any fish, we did what Jules calls seabiscuiting; letting out a round rubber dinghy with just enough room for your ass and pulling it with the boat. I had one round on my ass and the other on my tum. Man it hurt, Jules kept trying to hurl me off but i clung to it like a orangutan to his bananas. It was bags of fun though. We really had a lot of fun together today. We grabbed some pies, headed home, grabbed a change and drove out to the beach somewhere and just enjoyed the sun for a few hours before we went home.
I've really enjoyed my friendship with Julian. Initially i didn't think we'd be much of friends. He was actually the first person i met at uni, properly. I sat by him at the first lecture and was very pleasantly surprised at his friendliness and sincerity. However, i later realised that he was quite the lad's lad... quite the noisy jock, and quite the MAN if you know what i mean. So i was quite afraid and crawled back into my shell because he hung out with all the other lads, and i didn't want to. But he hunted me down, and we've established a really cool friendship that is honest and fun. Pray that above all else, we will encourage each other, speaking the truth to each other and helping each other to grow in our faith and ministry and helping each other love the unlovely around us. We had a good chat over coffee one evening, about superficiality. It was funny telling each other about our superficial sides, and what really annoys us about the superficiality in university. Anyways, i know what you're thinking, and no, i'm not becoming all gay and snag and metro and all that bull. I'm tough!!!!!!! yeah right!! hahah
Ok. enough blabbing for now. Will keep you in the loop. Oh pls pray for a social outing tmr, going kayaking!! about 6 of us from the CF!! :) 1st ever social outing. Gonna be interesting!!
Love in Christ,
